Self-Help Groups & Micro-credit
Over 250 women's self-help groups with training in stitching, tailoring, embroidery, mushroom cultivation and farming — plus savings, credit and bank linkage to build financial independence.
“Either we all live in a decent world or nobody does.” — George Orwell
Jharkhand Mahila Jagriti (JMJA) works for gender equality and women empowerment across Hazaribagh, Chatra, Koderma and Ramgarh districts of Jharkhand. Through self-help groups, education, health, and rights-based action, we help women and marginalized communities manage their own economic, social, and educational lives with dignity.
An integrated approach to lifting whole communities — livelihood, learning, health, rights and the land they depend on.
Over 250 women's self-help groups with training in stitching, tailoring, embroidery, mushroom cultivation and farming — plus savings, credit and bank linkage to build financial independence.
Remedial and bridge learning centres, non-formal education for out-of-school children, and scholarship support — with a vision to establish a free school for girls.
Free health camps, anemia and nutrition awareness for rural women, mother-and-child care, and adolescent health and SRHR education.
Action against child marriage, trafficking and domestic violence through street plays, legal support and awareness of POCSO, the Domestic Violence Act, POSH and more.
Vocational and digital skill training for youth and women, linkages to skill institutions, and enterprise promotion for higher incomes.
Forest protection committees, agro-forestry and horticulture, water recharge ('dobha') and sustainable organic farming.
We believe in the collective wisdom of the people we serve. Rather than handing down solutions, we organize women into groups, build their skills and confidence, and link them to the rights, credit and opportunities they are owed.
From a self-help group meeting under a village tree to a girl returning to the classroom, lasting change begins when women lead it themselves.
